So, as you may have noticed, today's 5x5 medium was incredibly easy.
So easy, that my first solve on it resulted in a sub-8 [omg]

I thought that the puzzles were slightly random, and the ones you received may not be the ones I received.

Congrats. I am envious of your skill.

Everyone in a while, I get an extra point for being in the top 10. It is only with the 8 x 8 puzzles.

No, the 5x5 medium (for example) of a given day is the same for everyone.

It's only the timed puzzles that are picked randomly from a large set.

Here I am confusing two things.
For some reason I thought Jpoos was speaking of their skill on the timed puzzles.

Thank you for the correction.

Jpoos, you have mad skills for speed, in timed and regular puzzles.

Haha, thank you [blush]
I always solve the regular as if they are timed, just as practice. That's also why I put 'unofficial' in the title.

This does actually make me wonder: are the timed puzzles and the small medium puzzles chosen from the same pool of puzzles?

No, they're completely separate.

The difficulty level is comparable though: the upper limits
on it are the same, the lower are slightly higher for the timed puzzles.

Also the timed puzzle is slightly more likely to have larger cages
(up to 4 cells, the max for the 5x5 medium is 3)

That's probably the best "connected sequence" puzzle seen so far...
