pnm edit: a list that was in this thread has now been moved to its own topic:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1213&p=5889

-----------------------------------------------

I'm trying to figure out how people can get a total of 4508 book points.
102 Extra Large Puzzles: 320
201 Tricky Puzzles: 205
100 Free Calcudoku Puzzles: 160
The Huge Killer Sudoku Book: 675
101 Advanced Puzzles: 1212
51 Advanced Puzzles special edition: 0
121 Advanced Puzzles Volume 2: 1452
Total: 4024
What am I missing?

There was the 15 pt puzzle (Happy New Years 2015) at the beginning of this year.

Have there been other special puzzles through the history of this site?

I just received the 3rd edition of 101 Advanced Puzzles. (Still available)

In it Patrick states that he has added several puzzles in both the 2nd and 3rd editions. I assume that he also removed other puzzles to keep it to 101 puzzles.
There were 10 new puzzles for the 2nd edition and 41 new puzzles for the 3rd edition.
41 or 51 puzzles would add a significant number of points.

(41 * 12 = 492 if Patrick included the 10 from the 2nd edition as a part of the 41 in the 3rd edition
51 * 12 = 612 if they were all new puzzles)

Now, one has to look for the older editions of the book to collect all the puzzles, as well as the two books that that are no longer available.. [omg]

It would be nice if there were an easy way to identify which puzzles in which books we have and haven't completed. For example, there are 578 points worth of book puzzles that I have not completed. I know where many of them are but not where some of them are. It would be nice to be able to identify those. Apologies for suboptimal record keeping.

Add me to the list of people who would really like this. It's a pain to keep track of which book puzzles you've submitted vs. which you still have left to submit.

What I'd really like is a page that shows all the puzzles you have left to solve/submit which will earn points. Missing book puzzles are the most important part of this, but there is always the possibility that you forgot to do one of the previous days extra puzzle.

@ mparisi,

When I was on a long vacation recently, i did not always do the EXTRA puzzles, since they can be turned in up to one month after publication.
(The Sunday 6 x 6 no - op puzzle is the EXTRA puzzle but it is not labelled as such)

When I had returned and I was checking through the past puzzles,
I would go to the EXTRA puzzle of the most recent day,
Then I would use the calendar and go back to start of my vacation , and start checking each day.
The calendar will go the EXTRA puzzle of the selected calendar day.

That was the method I used to get caught up on EXTRA puzzles.

Nice suggestion, thanks [thumbup]

Some kind of book puzzle history page, sorted by book, I'll see what I can do.. [blink]

I think I may have an answer

There are two books that you are missing
Two sets of two books have very similar titles

There are 210 Tricky Puzzles (Without the EXTRA)
http://www.amazon.com/Tricky-Calcudoku- ... 1447889215

and 201 Tricky Puzzles EXTRA
(came with my subscription for the year)

There is 102 Large Puzzle (without the Extra)
I can find the cover on the page where I submit the solutions to book puzzles

and 102 Large Puzzles Extra
(Came with my subscription for the year)

102 Extra Large Puzzles: 320
201 Tricky Puzzles: 205

201 Tricky, Extra: 205 points
102 Large, Extra: 320 points (as eclipsegirl wrote, the books you get with a year's subscription)

Total: 4024

121 Advanced Volume 2: 1332 points (111 x 12, the first 10 "warmup" puzzles don't score points)

Then, in addition to your list:

102 Large Puzzles, 384 points (32 puzzles for points x 12)
201 Tricky Puzzles, 205 points (41 x 5)

the 2011 Christmas Puzzle: 25 points

the 2014 End of Year Puzzle: 15 points

100 Puzzles for the "Universiti Tenaga Nasional": 160 points (20 puzzles for points x 8)
(a one-off book I did for this Malaysian university)

I think that's all [biggrin]

Grand total: 4693

I'll try to find the best way to make the "missing" puzzles available again.

I would very much appreciate the ability to do the "unavailable" puzzles.

Is there a way to get the Holiday 2011 - 25 pt puzzle?
Was that published on this site?
