Post subject:  2 points for a Sudoku

hi,

starting just now you'll get 2 points for a solved Sudoku.

(I'll retro-actively put in those points for all Sudokus solved today)

what do people think of the difficulty level of the "medium" Sudoku?

Patrick

I cannot think of any worse implementations you have made.

I see your point, I don't like Sudokus either [mellow]

But I'm trying to convert Sudoku puzzlers to Calcudoku, and figured
that then it doesn't help if their "landing page" is a Sudoku worth zero points..

Too much crusading and preaching. On the sudoku point I wish you would allow people to arrive at calcudoku on their own path.

Yay! I actually like doing the Sudoku puzzles, when I'm done with the calcudokus for the day (or have given up on them).

How hard are they?

I think they may be quite tricky?
(but I'm not much of a Sudoku solver)

They can be quite tricky sometimes, and they're never 'too easy', in my opinion. I'm not an expert at solving Sudokus, though.

I understand the grumbling about a new 'points' puzzle added to the mix. But I also understand Patrick's desire to get more traffic and more traction.

I've probably solved fewer than a dozen sudoku puzzles on this site and I'm not going to start now - certainly not just for the 2 additional points per day and not even for the satisfaction of seeing a gold star on my entry on the 7-day rankings. But if sudoku solvers get clued in to the added layer of interest calcudoku.org offers through points and different types of puzzles, and they start tackling the calcudokus and/or timed puzzles in addition to the daily sudoku, then that's great. The more the merrier, I say.

And the more subscribers the merrier, I'm sure Patrick says and I can't fault him for that.

If I'm not mistaken the gold star only applies to the Calcudokus (so also not to the Killer Sudokus)

Exactly, so I can justify spending more time on the site [smile]

Maybe I'll add a zero point easy Sudoku as well at some point.

Now that the medium sudoku is worth 2 points, I was wondering if the easy sudoku will eventually have points assigned to it. Thanks and take care.
