the site's Google Adsense account has been disabled
For quite some time there have been Google ads on the puzzle page (one
on the puzzle page, and one on each ranking page).
A while back there were more ad clicks than usual: from some user's email
and looking at the stats I saw that most of these came from "touch" devices
(e.g. iPhone, iPad, etc.). I was working with one user to try and fix this. However,
a bit later my Google Adsense account was disabled. I appealed, explaining
the situation, and disabled ads for touch devices completely.
After more than 6 weeks I got a reply: the appeal was denied
I just sent this reply to Google, but given the fact that so far I've only gotten
automated form letters, I have no illusion that anyone will ever read it

Hello,
This is very frustrating. I've put an enormous amount of time and work into
my site, and it is clearly a site with valuable content. It is more important to
me that users of the site have a good experience than that I receive a lot
of advertising income.
That's why I didn't do anything with the repeated suggestion sent to me by
Adsense to put 3 ads on every page ("We’ve noticed that you’re running less
than three ad units on 484 of your pages on calcudoku.org.
We recommend that you add any of our top performing units (336x280,
300x250, 728x90 or ...").
That's why I was busy trying to figure out why iPad users experienced accidental
clicks on ads (I received a few complaints from iPad users). I've now disabled all
ads for touch devices.
Also, when I received an e-mail from Adsense requesting that the ad be put at
least 150 pixels away from the puzzle, I implemented that immediately.
It is unpleasant to read that my account has been disabled by a system:
all communication from Google are form letters, there's never a risk of a dialogue.
I understand that Google is very large, and that it can afford it to communicate
poorly, and to disable accounts without much consideration. However, in my
opinion in this way Google will lose a lot of goodwill.
I hope that one way or another it will become clear that a person has read this e-mail.
Best regards,
Patrick Min
