on using an ad blocker
Hello, I added some logging to see how many people are using an "ad blocker". This turns out to be close to 20% of non-subscribers. A lot of these have been puzzling on the site for years (and just about all have at least 1000 points already). Given the countless hours I've spent on this site, it's nice to get a small compensation for it. I'll be adding restrictions for people who use an ad blocker.. Patrick

Re: on using an ad blocker
Do I use an ad blocker......because I sure do not think I am capable of anything like that?
Did you get my second message about the "Microsoft" virus page?

Re: on using an ad blocker
Did not realize there was a difference about ads with subscribers and non-subscribers!! Tomorrow I will finally achieve the 50,000puzzle milestone

I am using an ad-blocker, but I turned it off on this site many years ago.

Re: on using an ad blocker
Well, I was wondering why the site acted so strangely (I would have roughly 10 seconds on a puzzle, and then the puzzle would collapse, leaving me nothing to see. Only option then was to save, and reload the puzzle again). If this is what was intended, one extreme measure to enforce people to drop ad blockers.
Disabled the adblocker and seems to be working fine now.

Did you get the message "please disable your ad blocker" ? Edit: if not, could you try again with an ad blocker, to see if you get the message? thanks, Patrick

Re: on using an ad blocker
Now, if I disable Ghostery (which I use in conjunction with Privacy Bader) , I do get the notification of please disable the ad blocker.
But I am 100% certain that no such notification popped up originally. The puzzle would simply collapse, and disappear, and no notification would appear.
