(6 "icons" and the flags have been done, more to follow..) Patrick Edit: almost all small images have been merged into one, the page should load much faster, even on a full reload (Shift + Ctrl + R on some platforms) This did work wonders: The puzzles started loading lightning-fast – except maybe the very first time I loaded the site each day, which was not a problem. But today, during the first hour after midnight CET, all puzzles are loading slowly again, especially the timed ones, which sometimes don't load at all. The automatic submission of solutions is also slow. I know this is a traffic issue, but it did seem like it had become less of an issue after you did the optimisation.

I'll look at the traffic stats of the server and will get back to you on this. Possibly another tweak, like disabling the 'solved puzzles ticker' during the first hour, would help a lot here.

Re: skip loading of Facebook / Google plus / Twitter code
A silly bug _still_ made the page load Facebook and Google+ javascript code, even with the "Don't load" option checked (!) This has been fixed now, so the page should load even faster Some stats: 10 people have the option to not load Facebook/Google+/Twitter enabled, 4 people have disabled the "solved puzzles ticker" ... I'm still looking for translations into Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese and Russian for these lines: Don't load Facebook/Google+/Twitter code Don't show the "solved puzzles ticker" Any volunteers?

But when I add /forum to the URL the forum page loads without a problem

Russian: Не загружать код Facebook/Google+/Twitter Не показывать напоминание о решенных головоломках Well i can additionally help with russian translation if you need it :) cause sometimes translation is awfull. For example Welcome back, %username% will look better "С возвращением, %username%" and not "Приветствуем Ваше возвращение, %username%" PM me if interested

fb_15592 wrote: PM me if interested Thanks a lot, definitely :) I just made those changes. You'll also notice that (1) there's some English here and there on the Russian site, and (2) there are bits that are present on the English (/Dutch/etc.) site, but not on the Russian one. But for sure fixing the "bad language" has priority. Patrick PS: and I notice another "todo": make sure proper names show up in the forum for Facebook users, not the "fb_15592" ...
