Nice idea. One thing I'd like (but which is quite a project to implement) is a feature where you can challenge another player, and you both solve the same puzzle at the same time... Next up then is "ELO ratings" for Calcudoku puzzlers

Time starts when puzzle is available. Puzzle is available till next 'competition' puzzle appears.
For example every 4 hours a puzzle (random size).
And maybe a penalty time to prevent the same people come first. 1st solver = +30 seconds in next puzzles, 2nd +20sec, 3th +10sec. Penalty time disappears after x hours or days. Interesting but I don't want to be sitting at the computer all day solving puzzles and I'm sure many people don't have that kind of time. Or else it would be too much of an advantage for whoever happens to be free at the right time. I don't know if it's possible for this to be fair to everyone. Only thing I can think of is for there to be a different puzzle every hour on the hour and each user can only do one puzzle a day. But then strategically one would try to pick an hour where the best solvers are busy so you have less competition...

Re: Any suggestions?
Not sure if there are enough players for 24 tournament puzzles and a limit of one puzzle a day. But to avoid people with too much time I thought about a time punishment.
With site statistics its not difficult to find the best hours.

Re: Any suggestions?
Is there any way we could move the Spanish section below the English section, since the English section will likely contain the majority of the posts?

With site statistics its not difficult to find the best hours. Well maybe not 24 puzzles then, but I think it should be some variation of the original suggestion. People need to sleep, work, eat, whatever. Don't want to encourage people to be calcudoku-ing when they should be working, for example. The current puzzles allow you to do them whenever you have the free time.

Thanks for your feedback, it was just a suggestion.

I agree, after netherlands, the last language should go to the last position. And, in addition to this, would it be possible to open the topics by default in descending order (to check first the last posts)?.

At some point the Spanish section will be separate, and only people who go to the forum from the Spanish version of the puzzle page will go there. The Dutch and English sections I'll probably keep together, since quite a few Dutch people read/post in the English section as well. Patrick

In any case, you can set this in your preferences: User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> Edit display options, then change "Display post order direction". Patrick

Re: Any suggestions?
Just wondering, why is there never a 11x11 puzzle?
