Another key improvement to the solver, which should result
in better/harder puzzles...:

Is this one more difficult than the previous?

If I may give my own opinion, that was quite a nice puzzle: struggling to get
a foothold in the beginning, and a few nice tricks along the way [biggrin]

I totally agree (d1 + d8 = 9) but this 4th killer becomes in fact easy (quite easier than the two previous in this section), very straight forward and amused, the reason probably the "small" cages (maximum 3 cells). With two 1-cell given numbers, but is it possible not giving any individual number, only cages from 2-cell on?.

yeah, not that hard.
and only 1 valid combination for d1 + d8 -> leads to a result for b6

That's definitely possible, I should enforce this for the difficult puzzles.

And it isn't!
With more improvements to the solver, this puzzle is now
(rightly so) qualified as "easy" .. :-)

So soon (probably starting Friday), the Killer Sudokus should be better again :)

Good! [thumbup]. Btw, I am curious, being the 3 killer sudokus actually "regular points", should not they enter into the daily "gold star"? (if I am not wrong the gold star is actually being assigned as previously, without considering the killer's ... ).

So maybe a gold dagger if you also solve the killers :-)

Excellent idea :-) , anything would help, even if you use (momentarily, during some time) the "gold dagger" (in addition to the gold star just in case) only for those who solve the three killers in the day (interesting for people coming from the Sudokus sites).
