 February changes
Some recent and upcoming changes:

- since yesterday: a button to clear all non-bolded cells
- starting Saturday Feb 2nd: a 15x15 extra puzzle [scared] (for subscribers) instead of a 12x12
- starting Wednesday Feb 6th: harder 5x5 twin puzzles (they were already upped a
bit last week, but these are a bit better :) )
- starting February: two random puzzles for subscribers only (instead of one)

Good changes, BTW do you plan to assign points to the Sudoku in the future?

Maybe once there is a "top 5 scores of the day" points system in place
(where you'd get the points of the 5 highest scoring puzzles
you solve in a day)

I like the February changes. I would like a top 5 system. If sudokus get points in a top 5 system, I hope they don't have a point value among the top 5 options of the day. In fact, it would be nicest if the top 5 options each day were all calcudokus (in my opinion).

Am not liking this system as it really benefits the smarter puzzlers who can solve the most difficult 5 for the most points where as because I can't always solve the most difficult, I can pick up some extra points by doing all the more mundane (easier) puzzles plus most of the "killers" to try and make up for lost points......I would prefer the system we have now, as it gives me a "fighting chance" to pick up 50+ points a day and thereby maintain my status quo.

[woot] I only do all the puzzles some days and I already spend too much time. I might have subscribed some day when I got better at these puzzles. Today you took away the only 10x10 I can do, plus a medium I always do. Thus my total will be 30 or more down over a week. I will not be forced to subscribe so I might just give up on the competition and maybe the site in general. I have alot of other good comments but feeling pushed out I guess I will never get to post them.

The wording of your post suggests that you feel wronged in some way – as if someone had deprived you of a well-earned right. Fact is, you are free to use any part of this site that isn't subscribers-only to your heart's content. Patrick has actually gone to great lengths (see here and here) to accommodate non-subscribers. But even if calcudoku.org is a labour of love on his part, it's only fair that he earn at least a nominal compensation for his efforts.

If you don't want to contribute financially even in a very small way, even after enjoying more than 9000 points' worth of puzzles for free, fine. No one is trying to "force" you to do anything. But then don't complain about not having access to premium content. If I were in Patrick's shoes, I wouldn't worry about your possible departure since it would mean zero loss of revenue.
