Last night things should have been better (a certain superfluous database backup job was removed). Tonight it should be considerably better. That said, I have begone preparing for a transfer to a spare VPS that I have (transfering to a different server is quite a job in itself...). Patrick

Re: efficiency improvements
Here are load graphs of the past 3 nights (so from top to bottom, March 28, March 29, March 30). The most important line is the red one, and it has improved a lot :) Still a bit of a bump around 00.30.

Re: efficiency improvements
Here's a higher res graph of last night's load: As you can see, the load is now uniformly low (the red line) Quite a big backup job starts at 00.30, but it doesn't affect the load anymore. Bonus points if you can explain the anomaly at 02:00 And please confirm if you're finding that the site is performing better after about 6.30pm EST ...

Re: efficiency improvements
Based on the past 3 weeks or so with the differences in Daylight times,I would hazard a guess that on the North American continent, that time might correspond with users doing puzzles just before supper or just after

I just worry that without the extra hour of sunlight every day, agricultural crops won't grow.
