mparisi and the 100,000 milestone
Having reached today the 98,000 points mparisi is very near the unbelievable amount of 100,000 points (this is equivalent to 10,000 !!! 9x9's solved calcudokus and almost 4 years of dedication). My congratulations in advance, mparisi (you will get it in two weeks? ). I am humbly sure I am just expressing what is in everibody's mind.

Do you have a wish list for the grand occasion, mparisi? A 16x16, for example? Or a daily bitwise OR?

Thanks for all the congratulations in advance. bram wrote: Do you have a wish list for the grand occasion, mparisi? A 16x16, for example? Or a daily bitwise OR? I spend enough time at calcudokus as it is; I don't need any additional puzzles to eat into more of my free time.

pnm wrote: Then my question is: if I were to cut one puzzle for each day of the week, which ones should they be?? C-cut?! Well, maybe the patterned 9x9 on Tuesdays since that one tends to get tedious and take a lot of time. To solve it, you usually need to consider which sets of numbers will fit in which cages and sections both from a multiplication and an addition point of view, which requires a lot of computation. And I'm trying to solve all puzzles using only the built-in mechanism for pencilling in candidate numbers, but maybe that's just me As for cutting my personal favourite, the bitwise OR 8x8 on Tuesdays: Please, NOOOOO! (edited on Tuesday to contradict myself somewhat:) Today's patterned 9x9 was very nice, though – it didn't require a whole lot of tedious calculation but rather an acceptable amount of calculation combined with a few key inferences. It had a more "positional" feel to it and an "elegant" path to the solution, making it much more gratifying (and faster to solve) than those patterned 9x9s often are. Did you throw in your best "hand-made" one from the vault just to refute the point I was making, Patrick?

My vote, if there is to be a cut, is the 9x9 for Tuesday .....no matter how easy it is, I just can't solve them.....to date, I think I've solved 3 or 4 and those were at the beginning of this type(picture a smiley face that conveys the message "perplexed")

I would really miss the Tuesday 9x9 if it were cut. . It's quite a unique puzzle and satisfying to solve when I can find the time & energy to attempt it. Maybe it would be more enjoyable if it did not come on a day with so many other challenging puzzles (mostly the Tuesday 10x10--a real monster yesterday). cecileb

It sounds like I should cut the 10x10 on Tuesdays, or at least reduce its difficulty. For testing I'm generating a set of 10x10 puzzles for Tuesday the 12th, 19th, and 26th, one step harder than the Friday one (which is pretty easy). Also the Tuesday 9x9 will from now on be rated 6 stars. Patrick
