anybody seeing spam/redirect ads
Hello,
From a user I received a report that he's seeing very intrustive ads on calcudoku.org:
first there's a note in Chinese (?) with the header "page at http:/www.igffinancial.com contains". Then there's a text in badly written Dutch, stating something along the lines "your phone is being attacked by a virus that can steal your privacy by the American hackers on May 19th".
after you click Ok or "back", you're redirected to an app in the playstore: "360 security antivirus boost".
Anyone else seeing this?
thanks,
Patrick

Re: anybody seeing spam/redirect ads
I just had the second part of the discribed events; the popup screen was absent. Until now it appeared quiet. (And i get a text in bad german instead of dutch)

Re: anybody seeing spam/redirect ads
Not good :-( I just sent you e-mail with some questions (figured it'd be quicker to do this via e-mail). Edit: I've been checking for a bit, and now it looks like this comes from malware specific to "Android", so fortunately not related to the site Edit 2: Android tablets only so far, still could be related to the site (could be served via ad of one of my ad providers)

Re: anybody seeing spam/redirect ads
I was now able to reproduce the issue by sending a fake "user agent string" (making the ad software think I was using an Android tablet)
I'll be sending detailed info to the ad provider, and will disable ads on Android tablets/phones.

Re: anybody seeing spam/redirect ads
The ad provider wrote to me to say they've now disabled the offending ads.
I've re-enabled ads on Android devices, please do let me know if anything untoward reappears...
