which puzzle should be the first puzzle?
For quite a while now, the default first puzzle you see on the site when you're logged in is the easy 6x6 (except when logged in through Facebook, then it's the easy 4x4).
Otherwise, it's the easy 4x4 (unless you're from Japan/China/Korea, where apparently 4 is an unlucky number, then you start with the easy 5x5, and if not available, the easy 6x6).
Should I simplify and just make everybody start with the easy 4x4?

I vote for Easy 4x4 as starting point.

Re: which puzzle should be the first puzzle?
Maybe it would be cool to make a small overlay of all puzzles of the day as an introductory page. Now that I think about it, it might just be a good idea in general: a screen from which you can see every puzzle in small form, see which ones you've solved and from which you can choose the next puzzle puzzle you want to do. Not sure how well that fits on the site though, and how hard it would be to make.

I vote for the next unsolved puzzle of the day, which usually would be the 4x4 easy.

Re: which puzzle should be the first puzzle?
I would prefer to start with the easy 4x4, but I think having an option makes sense. As it is, I pretty much always select the easy 4x4 first and proceed from there, so it would be more convenient for me to save the click. A menu page (though perfectly fine as an option) is probably not something I would want as it is one more click to get to a puzzle - though I still really miss being able to see what puzzles I have done on the day without having to hover (and have found myself doing fewer puzzles as a result lately.)

I also miss having all of the day's puzzles listed along the top so that you could see at a glance which ones have been completed and which ones are still outstanding. I have the impression that Patrick is dealing with space issues and that is why it is moved to the left side and requires clicking to view the puzzle status.

Re: which puzzle should be the first puzzle?
Like others, I miss the bar at the top that indicated the complete puzzles.
I find myself using the drop down, and having to refresh the page to be sure it drop down menu is complete. I appreciate the horizontal lines on the drop down menu, and that within the list, it indicates if the puzzle that is opened is solved.
I always start with the 4 x 4 easy, and proceed from there. I think options would be great so that we can customize it for our personal likes.
