Congrats to Sandrider.
Congrats for being no 1 in the Year to Date ranking. It is not easy.

Accolades to kzfmtkhs239. You did very well too.

Re: Congrats to Sandrider.
I didn’t see the final rankings. And I wonder if they will be adjusted for extra puzzles that relate to 2025 but are solved in 2026? Given that a month is allowed for the submission of such puzzles, perhaps a tighter deadline might be imposed for inclusion in last year’s totals, if these are to be allowed.

Whether this happens or not, it would be nice if Patrick could clarify the rules in this regard and if he could produce an archive list showing the final top 10 or 20 scores for 2025.

There was a discussion about this at some point.
The extra puzzle point only count towards the total for that year.

In other words: if you solve the extra because of Dec 30th, 2025 (for example), the points will _not_ be added to the total for 2026.

I'll add a note to that effect to the info below the rankings list.

Also discussed before probably (not sure [sleep] ), full lists for all years would be nice I think [thumbup]

Re: Congrats to Sandrider.
Thinking about this, I should probably remove the extra puzzle points from the "year to date" rankings.

And now is a good time to make that change [drool]

Re: Congrats to Sandrider.
I guess that simplifies things. But you would still need to adjust for puzzles that straddle the year end I.e, 12x12s, Tuesday 9x9 and Friday difficult killer. Didn’t apply this year, but likely to apply more often than not.

I think it makes most sense that these go to the "puzzle year" (so if Dec 31 had had a 12x12 for example, it would have counted towards 2025).

The true annual ranking would then be known at most 2 days into the new year.

Re: Congrats to Sandrider.
Did anyone get a pic of the final standings?

Re: Congrats to Sandrider.
I think it’s been made clear that extra puzzles that were published in a particular year would not count towards the following year’s total if they were solved in the following year. The question I was raising was whether they would be included in the final rankings for the year in which they were published if they were solved in the following year within the permitted time limit.

I guess it’s pretty much a moot point if extra puzzles are going to be excluded from the year to date rankings from now on. The only remaining issue is how do we deal with the regular puzzles that have extra days to solve and that are actually solved in the year following the year of publication.

re: paulv66, exactly [namaste]

and re: final standings, I should make something so you can see the final standings of previous years.
(will take a bit of work)
