Post 15x15 extra Saturday August 18th 2018
I finally managed to solve this puzzle a few minutes ago, but I think it is one of the most difficult of these puzzles that I have encountered. I was interested to see how the number of solvers compared to previous 15x15s.

I can only go back a month, but the number of solvers is as follows:

21/07/2018 - 69
04/08/2018 - 43
18/08/2018 - 26

I realise that there is still time for people to submit the two most recent puzzles, but I wonder if this is a sign that the puzzles are getting harder.

It did not seem exceptionally more difficult to me. We will have to see how many people complete it at the end.

I thought Sunday Aug 19's 12 x 12 and Mon Aug 20's 9 x 9 were both challenging, though.
I also had some stuff going on in real life so maybe I was distracted?

Sometimes there can be a simple step, be it an elimination or finding a specific number can only fit in one cell in a partially filled row or column, and if you dont catch it, the puzzle can be harder than it should be.

Thanks eclipsegirl. Still only 28 solvers and August 4th has gone up one to 44. I guess it can sometimes just depend on how you approach a puzzle and a 'blind spot' early on can cause enormous problems.

I think I'm just suffering from 'puzzle fatigue' at present. [confused] I've been working my way through the latest book and am down to fewer than 30, but I'm struggling with the remainder and have started falling behind my target of submitting two every day. [scared]

EDIT: Definitely suffering from some sort of fatigue - just took me over ten minutes to complete today's timed 8x8! [confused]

This puzzle did not seem difficult, it took me a long time just because it is large, but it was mostly easy steps. I have often wondered why the large puzzles, 12x12 and larger, always have a difficulty rating that is very high, but are usually easy to solve.

I have been trying to find a way to assess the difficulty of puzzles. I have been creating puzzles, and I have found it is not always clear how difficult a puzzle is. When I make a bit more progress with this I will share my results in the forum.
