Post subject:  Isolated Sudoku

Given a collection of numbers, the isolated numbers are ones in the collection with no consecutive numbers (on either side.) For example if the numbers are 1,3,4,6,8,9 then the isolated numbers would be 1 and 6 because 3 is next to 4 and 8 is next to 9. (Alternately we could say the isolated numbers are numbers n in the set so that both n+1 and n-1 are not in the set.)

Here is a Sudoku I constructed based around this one idea.

I really like the 'feel' of this puzzle. It looks tidy but there is a lot of information packed into the nodes.

I haven't solved it yet, but two observations:
At first glance e8 is the only simple cell.
It's mildly interesting that the same number can appear twice in a cluster of 4 cells, but only along one of the 'major' gridlines - such as between columns c and d, rows 3 and 4, etc. - so they are not 'clued'.

All good and correct observations, Jaek. It helps to look for things like that at to give an idea where the best place is to start!
