Today's 8x8 by swimminghorses was an absolute joy to solve. At the start, with all the 0- cages on the left, it looked nigh impossible, but the way the puzzle was designed did several things to guide the puzzler through a satisfying experience: 1) made use of a variety of puzzle-solving strategies, including parity and mapping out possibilities, but never too much speculation 2) involved several steps of similar difficulty (not easy, keeping it a challenge, but not too hard as to be discouraging) to gradually solve it Thank you swimminghorses for yet another amazing puzzle! |

I'm not going to have much free time this weekend due to work stuff, so shamefully I just bifurcated at r4c3 and it fell apart really fast. I'm excited to go back and figure out where the actual logic path was. Edit: 5 seconds later I went back and looked at it and in retrospect the other choice is super easy to eliminate if I hadn't been speed-solving lol. |

I agree - an excellent puzzle. Puzzles with a lot of subtraction cages can be quite challenging. As MV says, lots of interesting steps and different techniques involved in solving the puzzle. Thank you swimminghorses. |
