I wonder if everyone had the same timed puzzle if the times would have such a wide spread each day.

Well giving everyone the same timed puzzle each day generates its own problems... [blink]

Giving everyone the same puzzle.....I would think the times would not change as the speedsters would get the shorter times and the rest of us would be looking for 22, 23, 24 and 25 th place and on up......mostly in the 25+ range.

You're assuming everybody is honest.

Just create a second account, solve the puzzle at your leisure, then log into your real account and copy the results.

Had a total brain melt on today’s 8x8. Just couldn’t get my head around it at all and ended up taking almost 20 minutes to complete it. That will be 5 days out of 7 that I’ve failed to make the top 25. [cursing] I’m going to have to change the way I’m approaching these puzzles. [confused]

First, I agree with mparisi, it has to be a large number of random puzzles.

Now we could talk about Patrick allowing something for Seniors, but how do you prove your age? : [biggrin]

Paul, you have noted people are getting faster. It sucks. I used to get in to top 25 most of the time when it first started. Now I am lucky to get in it a few times a week. :hugs:

Post Re: 8x8 timed
Once upon a time there were fewer users and I could count on 5 timed points per day.....but that was a long time ago......I remember conversing with one user (who at the time was just skipping the timed puzzles) that those 5 points (most days) would add up to over 1800/year.... and of course said user started doing them.....now am down to about 1450 as some days I forget to do the 8x8.....or just cannot be bothered for the 1 pt.......getting too old to care I guess......maybe in about 2 weeks (606 to go) I will decide to cut back which is what I have been saying for years [lol]..yeah,right!
On second thought it is nice to be #1 in Canada in at least one category for a long time yet :-)
1324 puzzles to go to get to 60,000 puzzles......another goal I had set for myself [smile]

Post Re: BACK IN THE TOP 10
Well done Patrick! As someone who can't get remotely close to those times, my target is to score 5 points a day, but I'm finding this increasingly difficult as more people do the puzzles and get faster with practice. I, on the other hand, keep getting slower and slower. [cursing]

pnm edit: moved this reply (and several below) from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1189

What I find particularly frustrating are those days where I stay in the top 25 on the 8x8 for most of the day, but find that somebody has put in a time close to midnight that knocks me out. Both yesterday and the day before, I finished in 26th place [cursing], in one case by just over 1 second. I think I'm OK for top 25 today with a time of 4:30.xx, but who knows? [confused]
