Had a funny day today with the timed puzzles. Just outside my top 100 in the 5x5 and well outside in the 4x4 and 6x6. Then I did the 8x8 and broke my previous best time by over 20 seconds! [biggrin] Still quite pedestrian compared to the really fast puzzlers, but hopefully good enough to get into today's top 10.

Worst day ever.........away from home at a resort and so I only have my I-pad and had just started the 8x8 timed and wouldn't you know it .........4 grandchildren (ages 2-5) showed up and after 58 minutes I had to give up ........this might be the 1st time I did not complete this timed puzzle......oh well.....life goes on and am now going to go and join the "wildness of my family" [smile]

I see by the time of day I was too late anyways !!!

I feel your frustration. For future reference, please note that, provided you have started by midnight CET, you can finish the puzzle as long as you get it done before the rankings for the day are published around 70 minutes later.

Wow! Either today's 8x8s were easier than usual, or a load of people have all hit form at the same time. There are already 10 times under 4 minutes and yesterday there were only 5, with a time of 4:43 being good enough for 10th place.

Frightening [scared] day today on the 8x8 timed. Almost 6 hours left and one needs a 3 min 45 sec to have a chance at top 10.

Edit: And today 3 min 35.797 sec does not make the top 10.

Had my best ever 8x8 yesterday (3:21) and my highest ever placing (3rd). Only my second ever 7 point day and a welcome change from a recent run of very poor times.

Congrats Paul. I have never placed that high.

I usually manage to get into the top 25 in the 8x8 unless I get stuck and have to restart. Yesterday, I chose the wrong one of two alternatives at around the half way mark and had to retrace my steps. But I managed to finish in around 6:20, which I thought would be enough to get into the lower reaches of the top 25.

I was sonewhat surprised to see that I was only 27th. [cursing] I guess I need to be more careful about guessing as there seems to be a lot less leeway than I thought! [scared]

I thought yesterday was bad! Today I accidentally touched the top left hand corner my iPad screen with my left thumb while solving the 8x8 and I found myself looking at a home page in Spanish. When I pressed the back arrow, it brought me back to timed puzzles but told me I had already submitted an 8x8. [cursing] [cursing] [cursing]

Sorry, but I had to laugh at this last post (but I feel your frustration) as it has happened to me on my iPad many times (did not get a spanish page though) due to my larger fingers which inadvertently often hit the wrong thing at the wrong time and especially numbers which are close together......so when I am finished I wonder why the screen did not turn green and then I have to spend valuable time searching for the error(s) [cursing]
