Someone suggested that it would be good to not award points below 10th / 20th / .. place in the timed puzzle rankings.

What do other people think?

(i.e. is it a "chore" to solve a timed puzzle just to get the point?)

I would prefer it to be left as is.

I think it would be mean (unfair) to those who do the timed puzzles to deny them a point.

The top spots tend to be dominated by certain people. It is hard to break in to the speedy crowd without practice. I think that speedy group would become even more exclusive.

Occassionally, I get an extra point for 8 x 8. But I do the all puzzles to get the 28 pts for the week. If it changed, it would not be worth it for me to do any of the puzzles on the rare chance that I might get 1 point once every two months or so.

Please do not make that change.

I agree with all of the comments above.....no change please.

It does not affect me because I am currently having a break from solving puzzles, but I also think this would be a bad idea, no change is necessary.

Leave it as it is. People should get some kind of reward for doing the timed ones, and you only have to solve one per size to get the extra point if that's what you want. Although the only points I check daily is the timed puzzle world ranking for the last 7 days, so it doesn't matter that much to me.

I don't see a reason to change it. If people view doing timed puzzles for the point as a chore, they simply shouldn't do them.

People who love puzzling would continue doing the timed puzzles even if no points are assigned (like with the easy sudoku), particurlarly myself I would continue doing them at least to keep (if I am right) the actual record (68,283 till this moment) of total puzzles solved in the site.

However, I fully agree with the previous opinions, leave as it is, some kind of bonus must be considered to those who dedicate the effort (and time) of trying several attempts fighting for the points (additionally, in general, the practice is very good to improve the skill for solving other Calcudokus).

Instead, I propose a different idea, I would increase the options permitting 2 attempts for the timed 8x8's [smile].

Rather than restricting points, I would like to see the points expanded for 4x4 5x5 and 6x6. for example, 3 pts for 3-10 and 2pts for 11-20

Maybe something like this:

1: 6
2: 5
3: 4
4-10: 3
11-20: 2
> 21: 1
