Well, after that 11+ time on Tuesday, I have managed a 5:48 and a 5:55 on the last 2 days of the timed 8x8's.......my "good streak" will probably end soon but it has been a nice 2 days [biggrin] !!

Well done! Looks like we're both on a roll (relatively speaking). A good week for the silver surfers!

Congratulations beaker! [thumbsup] I consider any day I get two times in my top 100 a good day, so getting two in your top 10 is fantastic!

Meanwhile, I got my third ever sub-4 on 4x4 with a really lucky miniblock :-)
Seems like everyone had a good day today! I'm looking forward to the days when days like these seem slow...

All MY great times yielded only 1 extra point and that was for the 8x8 [sad]......I see by yesterday's times that I will never be in the best 25 for the 5x5's or 6x6's.....but there is always some hope in getting into the best 25 of the 8x8's although lately I have not been doing too many of them....too stressful on this "old heart"......I really have to concentrate on keeping my pulse down while trying to "beat the clock".......any other older users find the same thing???

I'm finding it harder and harder to win extra points. I still manage to finish in the top 25 on the 8x8 fairly regularly, but often with very little to spare. The times required to achieve top 10 and top 25 are both becoming a lot more challenging. I think this is partly due to an increase in the number of subscribers doing the 8x8. The number completing it each day is close to 40 and I seem to recall there were around 30 people doing it regularly when the new points structure was introduced. Maybe Patrick could provide some stats on this?

Like you, I will never be in the top 25 for the 4x4 and I figure I would need a top 3 time to have a chance of getting into the top 25 on the 5x5 and a top 10 time on the 6x6. Regarding my pulse, I don't know if this increases while doing the timed puzzles, but I definitely feel under pressure and I'm inclined to rush things and make mistakes, or just simple keying errors (e.g. putting in a 3 when I mean to put in a 4).

Key stroke mistakes while rushing to the finish is something that I suffer often especially when I take a peak at time lapsed when I have about half of puzzle completed.

I agree the times are getting faster and its harder to earn the extra pt being in the top 25 of the 8 x 8

Things that have surprised me:
I have been in the top 25 at least once every size of puzzle. [biggrin]
Yesterday, my 3rd best time on the 4 x 4 was enough to be 24 on that list. It is luck when it happens.

The change I have been thinking of asking Patrick to do would probably be difficult to code:
Rather than the top 11 - 25 times qualifying for an extra pt. I would prefer to see it as the next speediest 15 unique members who did not score in the top 10 earn an extra pt.
It will take a few pts away from the speedsters. The speedsters would still be able to have multiple places in the top 10 spots, and earn those extra points for mutlipe places. But after the top 10 places were decided, then the next 15 points would go to 15 unique individuals who were fast, but not in the 10. A person had earned a point after the top 10 places had been decided would only get that 1 pt.

This would not affect the 8 x 8 puzzles as members can only do it once. All 25 places go to unique members

It might encourage more people to do the timed puzzles.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but isn't this already the way it works now?
