I am in the US, and in my time zone, the new puzzles appear at 5:00 pm / 17:00 in the afternoon.

Yesterday, I was getting stuck on the 6 x 6 difficult so It was saved. The only entries are pencil marks. There are no bold entries.

I skipped ahead and did the 8 x8 medium. That has been solved. But it was saved before I finished it. It has both bold and pencil marks in the version that was saved

This morning I returned and I was working through the 8 x 8 difficult. It was saved with both bold and pencil marks. Before I solved it I decided to return to the 6 x 6 difficult.

When I returned to the 6 x 6 difficult, I wanted to erase the pencil marks. I can not seem to start over be either using the Clear button (the circle) or the Erase button, which should erase all my pencil marks.

However, I could go to the 8 x8 medium - which had been saved before solving and the two buttons worked. I can also go to the partially solved (unfinished) but saved 8 x 8 difficult and the two buttons are working properly for that puzzle.

Just thought you should know.

Oof, quite a sequence,

thanks for reporting, I'll see if I can reproduce this ... [blink]

I dont know if this matters.

As I went back to redo the 6 x 6 difficult, I erased the pencil marks by hand.

I saved the puzzle at one point. It had a mix of bold and pencil marks. Now I can return to that save and both buttons respond.

Could it be that puzzle only had pencil marks when it was saved?

I am going to save two different puzzles now, and access them later.
One will be completely filled with pencil marks, and the other with a mix of pencil marks and black cells.

I will report back.

ETA:
Saved two different puzzles as described above.
When I went back to use the Clear and Erase buttons, they wouldn’t work

I'm thinking this is because those buttons are trying to be "smart",
and won't respond if there are no numbers in the puzzle.

Later the pencilled in numbers were added, and I didn't consider the case where
a puzzle has _only_ pencilled numbers [mellow]

update: I simplified things by now always allowing those two buttons to operate.

(and the condition was "even smarter": the buttons would not respond if there was no undo history)

Thank you.

The buttons work on the two tests I set up yesterday
