I just got credited for solving today's 7x7 extra before I actually solved it.

So you mean the puzzle turned green and the "solved box" showed up and all?

I don't remember what showed up at the time but when I returned to it the upper bar was green, I was informed that I had already solved the puzzle, and I had been awarded points,
