Post subject:  Bonus puzzle target off?

Hi,

I'm about 200 points off of my next bonus puzzle, but I did 268 bonus puzzles hence it should be 75+54=129?

Or did something change?

same here Patrick... formula for subscribers is 75 + floor(bonus solved/5), correct???
for me, pts till next bonus is not adhering to this formula..it is off by a significant amount, else I would not bother..

Same here. My most recent bonus target jumped up significantly from the last few.

Sorry about this, it looks like a new bug.

I'll be travelling for a bit, hopefully will be able to look at this this week.

Same problem here, my previous target was in 47957, once reached (I had 363 bonus puzzles done, now I have 364) it should have shown for the next bonus target 47957 + 75 + 72 = 48104, instead it jumped to 48179 (the actual target shown in my page, 222 points from the previous one), that is 75 points in excess, it seems that the routine that computes the target is counting twice the 75 points :-) .

After the one mis-calculated bonus target I reported before, my subsequent bonus targets have appeared to be correct. I wonder if this is an intermittent problem produced when certain multiples of bonus puzzles have been reached?

It seems to vary randomly: Sometimes more than 100 points are needed to get to the next bonus puzzle, sometimes less [confused]

Actually, I think Patrick could safely do away with the bonus puzzles altogether now that subscribers get an extra puzzle (and two extra timed puzzles in each category) every day, not to mention the free PDF puzzle books included with the subscription and the online "killer sudoku" puzzles that are probably going to be a permanent feature as well. I don't know if any other users agree or if you will come looking for me carrying torches and pitchforks [scared]

Actually, this seems like a reasonable idea.

Not only that, but it removes some of the random "I did a bonus puzzle close to the end of the goal and got ahead by that."

That said, bonus puzzles do have one interesting effect that we'd lose: They help get people already ahead further ahead, creating more of a spread to the rankings.

Bonus target is off again. 2nd time this has happened this week. It says I am now 112 pts. away from my next bonus. That is not correct as per the subscriber formula of "Next bonus = 75 + floor(# of solved bonus puzzles / 5). Looks like it is using the "non subscriber formula of dividing by 2 instead of 5.....Whats up with that???
