Post candidate numbers not appearing when I hold down shift key
Hey guys. I've been trying to pencilmark by holding down the shift key and hitting the appropriate number keys. Unfortunately, no little candidate numbers appear when I tried it. I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing this problem. Thanks in advance for your time and help and have a nice night.

I've also tried using the "pencil" option and then typing in the candidate numbers. All that did was alternate and put a big number in rather than type in little numbers. I'm print-screening my puzzles in Paint for right now to get around that, but I'm VERY fed up!!! [mad]

This turned out to be a minor nightmare, another one of
the 2 million IE bugs (search google for "IE z-index bug" ...).

It's now working for IE 9, but not for IE8 and older.

(so stop using Internet Exploder 8, and switch to Chrome / Firefox / Safari / ... [tongue] )

To try and justify spending more hours chasing the IE8 bug, I did a quick
survey of current browser share (measured from the solved puzzles,
not distinct users):

Safari: 43%
Chrome: 29%
Firefox: 26%
Opera: 1%
IE9: 0.5%
IE8: 0.2%

So now it's been fixed for IE9, and no pressing need to fix it for IE8...

I've currently got IE 8, and so I'll try upgrading to IE9. I appreciate Patrick's reply and everybody's help, and I apologize if I sounded "snobby" in my previous post.

Don't worry about it.

Also, if you're running XP (which I have running here in VirtualBox),
then IE 8 is the highest you can go (!)

I use Firefox myself, but I do notice that Chrome is considerably faster
(but maybe the Chrome user interface is a bit quirkier).

Both browsers will automatically import your bookmarks etc. from IE.

I just started using Firefox, and pencil marking now works like a charm!!! Thanks again and have a nice night.

Amazing, I understand now that you don't spend much time on IE.
Its different than 'browser market share' from for example w3schools or netmarketshare

It just proves IE users are... [huh]

Or it could work the other way around: because I don't spend much
time testing with IE, and IE being the error-and-security-hole ridden browser
that it is, people either switch or leave the site.

(I'm told IE9 is decent though, quite close to implementing the W3C standards)
