Surprise.

After 2317 consecutive golden stars (starting and including Apr 12, 2011, 6 years, 4 months and 4 days), it seems that the golden star is gone [confused] [confused] [confused].

I use to send all puzzles in the same day, including extras and killers, that do not count for the golden star. Anyway, I will make very soon a trip that would have made very difficult to extend my particular challenge to "more than 7 years of gold stars".

Sorry this took a while to reply.

Was there a particular day that the golden star did not appear?
(or days, even?)

Patrick

I noticed the star was gone for a few hours, or perhaps the full day, on the day that Clm posted (Tues Aug 15 2017)

I thought you fixed it because the gold star reappeared later.

I'll try to retrace my steps on Tuesday, August 15th, 2017... [scared]

I did not notice any additional outage on golden stars since then.

BTW, luckily I could keep the consecutive golden stars in my recent trip (with high effort I would say, sometimes completing the puzzles very near 24.00 CET). However I had to park the extra 15 x 15 on Sat, Aug 19 (this is the first time that I do not complete the extra puzzle within the same day since the introduction of extras), but finally I can maintain the continuity of golden stars (which is my particular challenge), since the extra does not count for it :-) :-). I had to sacrifice the 0-points sudokus too, but I could complete all KS's (and all timed puzzles, though with very very bad performance from my tablet). Thank you, Italy, for making compatible so many beautiful things to enjoy with the completion of Calcudokus.

Clm,
Congrats on your continuing streak.

I know how hard it can be when one is traveling or having real life interfere.

I am never able to do puzzles on vacations... [crying]
Still, it shows how dedicated some puzzlers are, that they are willing to give up time that could be spent doing other things to do the puzzles!

Marble.
There is a very thin line between dedication and obsession.

During my recent travels to see the eclipse (and we were succussful) I only did the dailies. I did not do timed puzzles, books or extras. I felt I did pretty well. But I admit to being obsessed. [tongue]

Yes, that's the problem, I suppose I am a Calcuholic, it was Goethe who said that wherever you travel you always bring with you whatever you are?.
