Post about the possible .org sale
I'm following this story for a while now ..:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/07/tech ... attle.html

https://tech.slashdot.org/story/19/11/1 ... it-company

https://tech.slashdot.org/story/20/01/0 ... y-transfer

Bad news for all .org sites (un.org, npr.org, calcudoku.org ... [mellow] )
(wikipedia.org, wordpress.org, mozilla.org, w3.org, archive.org, eff.org, etc. etc..)

That’s the first I’d heard of this! A worrying development, indeed. [scared]

It means that the managing of .org domains is taken over (if the sale goes through) by an investment company,
whose only priority is to make money.

.org was originally intended for not-for-profit organizations, so a lot of them
are on a .org domain (though this rule is not enforced).

The fear is that the investment company will simply increase the annual registration fee to whatever amount they want.

A recent move against this: https://news.slashdot.org/story/20/01/1 ... lternative
