 Year to date rankings
Congratulations to clm, jpoos, eclipsegirl and gp_26190, who have all achieved the maximum possible score of 23244 points in the year to date rankings for 2024. ![ThumbsUp [thumbsup]](./images/smilies/msp_thumbsup.gif) There are a few other members within striking distance of this score, so we may have more than four members achieving a perfect score for the year before close of play today. Looking forward to starting 2025 with a clean slate and seeing how long I can keep pace before I fall by the wayside. ![Namaste [namaste]](./images/smilies/msp_namaste.gif)

clm has done it for 6 yrs in a row, or so I believe.
jpoos may have done for it for that long, too.

TY Thank you, paulv66. It seems that finally there have been four puzzlers with the maximum score. Two europeans and two americans is a nice proportion. I hope to see you next year in the list ![ThumpUp [thumbup]](./images/smilies/msp_thumbup.gif) . And, thank you, eclipsegirl. Unfortunately, there is not an official ranking or statistic for this. In my case, I believe it has been 5 years in a row: 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. I remember that in May 2019 I lost several points due to wi-fi connection problems ![Scared [scared]](./images/smilies/msp_scared.gif) the first day I went on board a cruise.

 Re: Year to date rankings
Clm, you sell yourself short.
While I didn't realize that you had issue in 2019, you have been very consistent over the years.
I think Patrick should create two new achievements, one should be just for making it to the max for any single year, and a second for doing it for five years.

 Re: Year to date rankings
There seems to be a glitch in the year to date rankings. Like many others, I have completed all today’s puzzles to earn 57 points.
But there is one score of 59 in the year to date rankings. I presume the difference is due to the inclusion of one or more puzzles that were published in 2024, but solved today.
I remember I tried to give myself a head start by delaying submitting some of the extra puzzles when the year to date rankings were first published. But Patrick adjusted the programming so that any such puzzles were excluded from the current year’s rankings. Presumably something has happened with this year’s programming and I have no doubt Patrick will have it fixed in no time at all.

It's funny how this particular piece of code gets tested _once a year_, and it slowly slowly converges to something that works... edit: and as always it's another tricksy special/edge case: Dec. 31st was a Tuesday, and it's possible to submit its 9x9 before Thursday.. edit 2: should be fixed now

 Re: Year to date rankings
Yes, thanks Patrick. I haven’t managed to complete a ‘perfect’ year recently, but did manage two years in a row early on.

pnm wrote: the data processing to determine who qualifies still needs to be done (big compute job, that ![Scared [scared]](./images/smilies/msp_scared.gif) ) part of it involves restoring some data from backups, from back in the day when you'd still store them on DVD rom (!) edit: this is because in the early days I thought it was a good idea to occasionally clear old puzzles from the database, so the current puzzles would load faster. So now in order to check for "complete solvers" for 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, I have to restore these from backup. It doesn't help that each backup typically has only 2 months worth of puzzles ![Glare [glare]](./images/smilies/msp_glare.gif) Also, it turned out that the DVD writer I used to create these backups can no longer read them Fortunately a more recent Blu-ray/DVD drive I had lying around could ![Smile [smile]](./images/smilies/msp_smile.gif)
