 Re: Year to date rankings
Thanks for looking into it, Patrick.
I had a look at my 2019 history and one of the puzzles I solved on 1 January 2019 was the 30 December 2018 12x12. This may explain the discrepancy for 2019.
Also, the first puzzle I solved on 1 January 2021 was the 31 December 2020 12x12. This presumably explains the discrepancies in both 2020 and 2021.
Does the fact that I didn’t solve the 31 December 2020 12x12 until early on 1 January 2021 mean that I failed to solve all that year’s puzzles?
Even if it does disqualify me for 2020, I should still get a perfect record for 2021. And it looks as if my recollection of solving every puzzle for two years in a row was incorrect. It was actually three years in a row (if 2020 is included).

It's exactly that, I forgot to take into account the puzzles for which you have multiple days to solve them, with the deadline in the next year. paulv66 wrote: Does the fact that I didn’t solve the 31 December 2020 12x12 until early on 1 January 2021 mean that I failed to solve all that year’s puzzles?
No, I think it should count, you solved all Calcudoku puzzles in a single year, and before the solution became available. (in other words, you scored all available points)

fixed now, you got the achievement for 2019, 2020, and 2021 And I see you got _very_ close in 2017 (3694 out of 3699) and 2018 (3647 out of 3651) I'll rerun the extended check now on all accounts (well all accounts with at least 12000 points, a bit of a coarse cutoff). The script also checks the Tuesday 9x9 (if Dec 31st is a Tuesday, and it's solved on Wed Jan 1st). edit: rerun finished, and in fact paulv66 was the only puzzler missing ![Sleep [sleep]](./images/smilies/msp_sleep.gif)

 Re: Year to date rankings
I added the table with the over-achievers to the achievements page edit: this suggests a new achievement "OVER ACHIEVER" for people who have all the achievements ![Wink [wink]](./images/smilies/msp_wink.gif)

ETA: Patrick, it is your site and you get to choose how to make the achievements. But I think you should make the achievement the same as what it take to be No 1 on year-to-date ranking on Dec 31.

 Re: Year to date rankings
I managed to screw up my 100% record today. I kept going around in circles on the difficult 8x8 and I just couldn’t figure out where I was going wrong. When I looked up the solution just now, I realised I was suffering from a blind spot in relation to the 3- cage in the final column. I told myself it had to be either 14 or 25 and I was able to eliminate 14 as a possibility. So I kept hammering away with 25 in the cage, trying multiple combinations in the remaining cells and continually running into the same dead ends. It didn’t help that I had a very late night last night and was at a birthday party for a large chunk of today. But my failure to allow for 03 as a possible solution to the 3- cage is a worrying sign of decline in my cognitive processes! ![Scared [scared]](./images/smilies/msp_scared.gif) Or maybe it’s a sign that I shouldn’t take solving all the puzzles quite so seriously! Anyway, I’m kind of relieved as it takes the pressure off and I will be able to travel to New Zealand later this month without having to worry about how I’m going to maintain my streak while travelling to the other side of the world.

I am sad to hear that, but understand that your travels were not going to make it easy to keep it at 100%. It is a hard thing to do.
