Post Cells turning green when using pencil
For some reason, a green tick has started appearing on the pencil key when I click and the feel in which I'm entering numbers turns bright green. Is this a general change, or have I unknowingly changed my settings in some way?

This used to be a black tick, and was changed to a green tick.

Also, the "green cursor" is meant to signal "pencil mode" (probably should think of something
else to make it not so similar to a bolded number).

There is still a "logic issue" related to the use of shift for entering guesses: releasing the shift key
disables "pencil mode", even if it was enabled earlier using the pencil icon.. [bored]

Thanks Patrick. This must be a fairly recent change as today was the first time I've seen it.

Yup.

User bach18 suggested this about a month ago,
only got round to looking at it today..

edit: the logic should be better now.

I also noticed that the "pencil toggle" did not apply to digits entered using the keyboard (!)
(not very consistent). That should be fixed now too.

The code for processing key presses is getting to be pretty convoluted, I'm praying there are no more bugs [scared] [namaste]

Also, the crtl key for penciling negative numbers doesn't invoke the green cell highlight.

You win the prize for finding the first bug [thumbup]
(well not really a bug, more of an "issue")

Patrick,
I use an iPad Pro.

I never wanted the keyboard to be pencil when pencil was triggered, I loved the ability to enter a Known number and enter pencil marks at the same time. Now I have to turn on and offf the pencil to work a puzzles and it takes more time.

This is going to solve me down on the the timed puzzles. [angry]

Ah, interesting.

For any change there's someone not happy with it [wink]

I do think it's better for consistency.
Maybe I should make it an option.

And maybe the "stronger" green should be for a bolded number,
and the "weaker" green for the guesses (or a different colour altogether)

The fact that I broke my silence should show Patrick how unhappy I am

I used to get in the top 25 of the 8 x 8 timed a few times a week. This change may affect that.
