Congrats esp. to manni. [thumbup]
I personally was rather surviving during this moment – I was drunk. :-)

About one week ago, I had a dream:
Me with several unidentified persons, of course solvers, were sitting in Eden and waiting for something. After a while, unknown creatures, maybe angels, maybe Patrick(s), brought us an issue of 19 (!) different boxes containing classic puzzle pieces. We emptied out the boxes. Out of each of them were fell a strange (“sci-fi”) grid and the pieces with one number. I understood the grids contain diverse results of the particular cage – as in our Calcudoku.org., and I have to do the puzzles. But: there were so many pieces with the same number, with only very slightly different shapes! Frustration. We found out that place is more like hell than Eden.

And I ask you, Patrick: When the website reaches 100 mil. solved puzzles, will we get a standard 100×100 puzzle or a box of 10 000 pieces to complete?! [scared]

I'm now wondering if it's possible to make a puzzle where the cages are shown separately,
i.e. as puzzle pieces. With still a unique solution (!)

Of course.

This was a nice challenge. Finally finished it a couple of days ago after 2 failed attempts.
I wonder, what's the largest calcudoku that can be generated with today's modern computing power? And how long might it take to solve?

Not sure, I know I can do a 20 x 20 (so we're good for next year :-) ).

The hardest at the moment is to create _difficult_ large puzzles (and not relatively easy ones, like that 19 x 19).

The newsletter puzzle from last year is now available at:

https://www.reddit.com/r/numberpuzzles/ ... r_19_x_19/

(please vote up if you're on reddit [thumbup] )

The puzzle code is: "19mil" (if you haven't solved it for the 19 points yet)

I think size alone makes it enough of a challenge! I’m not sure how anyone would cope if you were also to increase the difficulty level! [scared]
