Thanks :-)
Note that you don't need to set up a Paypal account, you should be able to
pay via Paypal using a credit card, without creating an account.

Will is be easy or possible for your worldwide clientele to do so.

For European users (currently the subscribe page is available also in Dutch, Spanish,
and Italian) I've added bank transfer info (fairly easy to do within Europe).

For my vote, no need to change a thing or offer anything to subscribers, other than the kudos of membership. I believe the majority have so much fun on this site, they would support it period.

Thanks a lot :-)
Maybe I'll add a "donate" button at some point.

Note that both extra books are ready now,
and that everyone who subscribed already
has been sent download links to these books:
let me know if you've subscribed, but somehow
did not get the e-mail with the links.

Hi Patrick, love the site! I was just thinking to myself the other day that if there was some sort of premium service for subscribers, I'd sign up in a heartbeat. Then today I saw that there was, and I signed up in a heartbeat.

I signed up by paying by credit card, without a paypal account, and I never saw an "instructions to merchant" place where I could enter my username. I could of course, just have been blind.

Anyway, it's saying I'm not subscribed, but my bank account says the payment hasn't been processed yet, I'm presuming when it does get processed, I'll be automatically subscribed, but if I haven't entered my username anywhere, will things grind to a halt?

Sorry for being difficult, have a good day :)

No, you're not difficult: currently I'm processing the subscriptions manually
(I run a script with your username and/or part of your email address, it finds
the appropriate records in the site database and the forum database, and
does all the right things :-) )

So if you subscribe during waking hours (GMT), then you could be subscribed right away..

So I still have to do the thing where Paypal automatically goes back to my site
after payment, and all the changes are done automatically (so here's my chance
to complain about the [cursing] Paypal testing environment..)

Well, I'm subscribed now, so it's all good. I'm in New Zealand so I think I subscribed in the middle of the night everywhere else :)

Thanks again, it feels good to give you some money for some extra stuff.

Is it possible to remove the timeout by the 'next unsolved puzzle' link for subscribers?

Sure, good idea, will do.

Edit: ok, that's done, the link should appear right away for subscribers.

I also put an ad in the solved box again for non-subcribers.

Patrick,
Currently on the rankings in the breakdowns by category, you appear to be lumping the points available to subscribers only in with the points available to everyone. Is that what you intend? Your 5/25/12 reply to rickt appeared to suggest otherwise.

No, that's not my intention, just haven't gotten round to implementing
that split yet [bored]

Post Re: subscribe to the site!
I have noticed another small bug with the subscriber features. If you solve the puzzles from left to right the extra puzzle will be the last one you solve. When you solve the penultimate puzzle - the 10x10 today - the 'go to next unsolved puzzle' link should take you to the extra puzzle. But instead it takes you to the 'normal' puzzle of the same category. So today the 'normal' 8x8 hard puzzle page renders instead of the 'extra' 8x8 hard puzzle.

I noticed this earlier but in reverse when I solved the placeholder extra puzzles before today's 8-point puzzles. That time I solved the extra puzzle, a 4x4, and then started with the easiest puzzles. When I completed the 4x4 medium difficulty puzzle the 'go to next unsolved puzzle' link took me to 5x5 easy. Again that was because I had solved a 4x4 difficult. It was an 'extra' puzzle but it was still a 4x4 hard.

Thanks, Patrick. I'm really enjoying the new features.
