Post March change
one small change come March:

the easy and medium Killer Sudoku on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
will be replaced by an easy and difficult one.

(the other days keep their medium + difficult)

Echos beaker.

Has there been some groundswell of demand, say from the top 100 players, to increase difficulty.

This moderately top player has long been advocating doing away with killer sudokus altogether.

No, just a suggestion by rossiniman, see this post:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=364&start=10
(and I liked the idea of having one challenging Killer Sudoku each day)

But if there are enough people who disapprove (and it seems so), I can revert the change again.

"What is needed is a custom set of puzzles for every player :-)" another Patrick Quote

I am certain it is difficult to meet all needs. I must admit I began with a distaste for the sudoku's and now find them fun. That said I also find it fun to be able to mostly solve as opposed to mostly struggle:) Perhaps a more moderate change would be in order. I was being factious when I commented about the groundswell as clearly there is none nor is there a forum for it nor perhaps a need. Maybe an on going up to date wish list and or stuff in the pipeline.

In the end there can only be one head honcho and I do believe the group of puzzlers are happy with it that way.

I echo opacitaviola's comment about having come to enjoy the Killer Sudokus. They have become my favorite puzzle (along with the 10x10 pattern on Friday), and I look forward to them each day. I also would rather solve than struggle, and some of them are real bears to solve. That being said, I find that I struggle less these days and rarely find that I can't solve the difficult puzzle.

Still. Sometimes it's nice just to be able to have a moderate challenge rather than a mind bender that leaves you feeling frustrated and incompetent. [confused]

I say let's see how it goes, and maybe if several of the people that like the Sudokus find the new batch too hard you could roll back the change, at least for a couple of the days of the week.

For me the medium killers are quite challenging already [sad]

I do try most of the easy and moderate "killers"; I can usually get the easy ones and about half of the moderate ones; as for the difficult ones.........I do look at them and usually give up as I see no where to get a "foothold", I just cannot see where or how to start...........hence, my reason for not increasing the number of puzzles I cannot do!!! ok, it seems the consensus it to stay with the old sets of Killer Sudokus,
so I'll switch it back

(so I have one day to generate the Mediums and put them in place [bored] )
