Could someone please explain how the system counts points?
I am in the US.
I check only the US rankings because I think I would be not fare well when compared to the world.

I thought I understood how the points were divvied up but I have a question or two.

I know that daily puzzles that have a yellow underline are for subscribers only.
I believe they are totaled under EXTRA when looking at the rankings.

I know that a person can turn in a 12 x 12 anytime over the three / four day period.
( I wish that would be true of 15 x 15 , too)

So usually people who do all the puzzles are often tied in the EXTRA rankings, sometimes there is a person with a few more points because they turned in the 12 x 12 on a different day than other people. Or that has been my explanation for why someone has more points than others even though several people do all the puzzles.

How can a member have 159 points in the EXTRA rankings over 7 days?
There aren't that many extra points offered during the week.

Thank you for trying to help my confusion.

You can solve extra puzzles of up to 30 days back. So it is possible to do 10, for example,
in a one week period (if you "saved them up").

Or one extra 15x15 + 18 smaller extra puzzles = 15 + 144 = 159 points.

Which puzzles generate the points for EXTRA rankings?

I learned something new today.

I had no idea that the EXTRA puzzles were not under the 24 hr limit.

Now I am going back to do the ones I didn't get to when I was away for the holidays

Yes, it's a bit implicit on the subscription page:
"one extra "special puzzle" every day, which can be solved any time:" (in other words, you don't get to see a solution )
...
"- the ability to do puzzles of up to 1 month ago (instead of 1 week)"
which combined means you can do extra puzzles of up to a month old.

You'll shoot up the rankings
