Post on the outage today
Of course this happens exactly when I'm travelling: at about 17.15 CET today the server turned off for no clear reason.

From about 17.45 (when I found out) until 19.30 I've been trying to get it back up without having access to my main development PC :-/

This involved a lot of trial and error, fighting with the broken software of my hosting provider [cursing], messing with an
old Mac Mini and a (too) small Linux laptop. In the end, all attemps failed [crying]

I was kicking myself that I hadn't fixed a configuration setting that makes the database server start automatically :(

In any case, back home now, all running again..

I do hope 'traveling' means commuting or running errands and not 'on holiday'.

Either way, thanks for the prompt attention.

When I was on holiday I had stuff set up a lot better to deal with emergencies..
But this was a plain old birthday visit.

I'll make sure I won't be caught out again [mellow]

This morning the site also conked out for a few minutes: some bot/crawler/spammer from
an address in Vietnam was hammering the site with 500-1000 requests a minute :-(
(almost a mini "DDOS").

Fortunately I was online to deal with it [glare]
