Post Weirs Question to Patrick
HI,

When people tie in the rankings, what is the algorithm that you use to choose who is placed first in the list of ties?

Esoteric, and I am over thinking things,

I had a look at today's rankings and the first couple of ties are alphabetical, but not some of the later ties. Maybe it's based on who reaches a particular score first. To move ahead of them in the listing, you need to beat their score.

Purely a guess, but maybe longevity? Whoever's been registered longer?

I think you are right as 2 Americans are tied but the person with K as 1st letter is positioned ahead of the person with first letter of D plus K has been on the site over 2200 days but not so with D!!

I just scrolled down through the all time rankings for the Netherlands (I used all time because it shows how many days since you registered) and I couldn't find a single exception to your suggested criterion. No doubt Patrick will confirm in due course, but I'd fairly confident your speculation is correct.

Yeah, that's right - in the overall rankings, down by the really low scores (20, 21, etc.) where there are 100 or so people with the same score, they are ordered from oldest to newest members.
