Re: this is more like it
Maybe.
I have never looked at the list of whole best times in the past because I wasnt a speedster.
Are you saying that if Jpoos places first in the top 10 places, they can not place again. You only consider their best time of the day?
I guess I remember that Jpoos was once trying to go for ?140 pts for times puzzles for a day. That meant that Jpoos placed in the top four places and, top first in the 8 x 8.
I thought, perhaps in error, that Jpoos and other speedsters could place multiple times (up to 4 times for a subscriber) in the list of the top 25.

Only the best time from each member counts towards the top 10/25. The 140 points to which jpoos was referring would be his score for a week if he finished first each day on each of the timed puzzles - 5x4x7 = 140.

Even when you do not do enough research and you still have a doubt about something, then I do not think questioning something is stupid (just the teacher in me responding to your post).....don't be so hard on yourself:)

Re: this is more like it
Just had a great day in timed puzzles, but on a more interesting note, while looking through the 4x4 average of 100 rankings, I saw several pairs of people whose averages were only one thousandth apart: herc and angelwhite (5.820/5.821) and sneaklyfox and puzzzel (6.264/6.265). There were other pairs where the competitors were only two or three thousandths apart! It should be pretty obvious that 4x4 would be the most competitive, but seeing it like this is quite impressive. On another note... Patrick, I'm only 11 thousands behind you better look out! If I get a 5.5 or faster, I pass you.

Re: this is more like it
I got my best time on a 4 x 4 yesterday. It was under 11 secs.
I dont think I will ever get under 6 secs.
Congrats to all you speedsters.

Very nice. Best time ever is very satisfying. (and I imagine best of several thousand attempts).

That doesnt happen as much anymore. I want to blame on on distractions and other things, but I think the subscribers are just getting faster @SJS - I went looking to see how many times I have done the times puzzles. Looking at the 8 x 8 list is more accurate since you can only do one per day. So just under 1200 days.

Yes, I've had 1807 8x8s but 4881 4x4 attempts (and only 1 best).
